WITH THIS RING, I THEE WED

Okay so maybe you aren't going to be a June bride, but you can still have a ring!  Yes, this classic Hermes RING bag in boxed Hermes rouge leather and doesn't require a vintage Halston cream dress to make you feel like the belle of the ball (and that Halston sold anywho....).  Hermes rouge is the French black in my book, so instead of putting a ring around your finger, put a ring around arm.  That's some heavy bling.

Obviously the previous owner wore gloves when she carried this bag, as the handle looks very good considering the bag is from the 1960s.  Very minimal wear and much less than normal for a bag of this age, so put a glove on your hand and a ring on your arm and get carried away by Hermes.

SCISSOR SISTERS

Ossie Clark famously could take shears to Celia Birtwell printed chiffon and cut into it so confidently that the strips of fabric could be sewn together to create a gown like that one below.  I remember buying two of these gowns 15 years ago at Portobello Market before Ossie became a collector's rage.  We also had the definitive collection of vintage Ossie which we famously exhibited (and sold) at Decades a few years after Clark's untimely death in 1996.  Some archival photos of our historic collection are viewable here.  It was with great nostaliga when this Ossie came our way.  If you are unfamiliar with Ossie, do yourself a favor and have a Google-fest.  I bet this is one of the first dresses and prints that you discover!

JUST IN TIME FOR COUTURE

I just came back from Savannah where we opened THE TOTAL LOOK and now I am off to Paris to get inspired by the remaining Haute Couture designers.  Do follow me on Twitter while I am in Paris as I am one of your best bets to get instant access to everything from Donatella's return to the runway with her Versace Atelier show on Sunday to Raf's Dior Couture debut and my personal favorite Haute Couturier, Jean Paul Gaultier.  Last summer, I had the first review of Azzedine Alaia's super exclusive Couture show up on the Huffington Post, so if you want to feel like you are in Gay Paree follow me on Twitter and on my Instagram page (both CameronDecades).

One bag I would suggest any Couture virgin or addict to take would be a classic Hermes Constance bag.  Works for day; works for night.  Enough said.  Not for someone who wants a bag so brand new you can smell the orange dye of the cardboard box from which it came, this one has a little wear, but it is only $1800 which is a lucky number.  Now, who's going to get lucky?

See ya in Paris!

Au revoir,
Baby Cam Cam

JUNE BRIDE

Are you always a bridesmaid?  Tired of catching the bouquet?  Hate wearing polyester dresses?  Well you have around three daysleft  to be a JUNE BRIDE.  Break out of your David's Bridal-unfortunate-teal flammable-dress and walk down that aisle.  Okay, you may not even have a fiance, but might I suggest you just purchase this white chiffon Halston in hopes that someone asks for your hand in marriage and you have a shotgun wedding so you can be a June bride?  Actually who cares if you get married in June?  I am sure enough of you out there who might pine for wedding bells that you would walk down the aisle during a nuclear holocaust. Truthfully, a Decades girl is never desperate and she knows a white dress doesn't have to be for her big day as every day is a big day when you are in vintage Halston from Decades.  I think this post is really funny.  I have just amsued myself.

GET SEXY

It's been a little while since we've had a stretch gauze jersey Giorgio di Sant' Angelo, but when it rains, it pours as we have three of these sexier than thou dresses that are perfect for the gal on the go.  I love these for so many reasons because they are an alternative to the Alaia and Leger body-counscious booty-call dresses and these gem-hued wonders are lighter and less ubiquitous.  They are certainly still quite inspiring to many desigers, in particular Tom Ford.  You can wrap these up in a zip lock bag along with Irene Neuwirth earrings and stick them in vintage Judith Leiber minaudiere along with a pair of Atwoods and you will have all you need in the palm of your hand. for a night on the town.

MADE-TO-ORDER KELLY

There is nothing chicer than having your Hermes Kelly bag custom made in the color combination you desire! This is the case with this beautiful 35cm Kelly. The exterior is Clemence leather in Gold and the interior is the classic Hermes Orange. The bag has no lock and key and was ordered that way. You can always purchase them at Hermes. There is also one rivet missing as indicated in the image below, that as well can be fixed at Hermes. The original owner has taken great care of the bag, there are no scratches on the body or on the hardware. This super cool baby comes with its own box, sleeper bag and rain coat.

YVES SAINT LAURENT HAS CHANGED THE NAME

With Hedi Slimane as newly-appointed creative director of Yves Saint Laurent, changes have already started to happen. YSL is about to have a new name and being rebranded as Saint Laurent Paris.
For Slimane this move is to recapture youth, freedom and modernity, just as the founder of the fashion house, Yves Saint Laurent did when he created Saint Laurent Rive Gauche in 1966.
And that is why this variation logo dress by Yves Saint Laurent from Summer 1988 is more important today than it was in 1988. it features very prominently the YSL interlocking logo on a red raw silk strapless silhouette with a lace wrap/apron on the waist and hips with a point d'esprit red floral motif. The wrap may be sensually tied at the back for a very sophisticated Spanish-style look.
However you tie it, you'd be glad to own a piece of history!

THIS IS NOT FOR YOUR HORSE

Referencing the horse feedbag, Picotin is one of those little Hermes rarities that stands as an indication to the social status, rather than the bag itself. Not to take away from the bag, which is very practical, easy to carry, simple, sleek and understated. It is unlined and has metal feet on the bottom and a belt across the top. This Picotin is the perfect bag for summer parties, or simply to run errands. It wold be chic to leave your Birkin at home one day and take this Picotin to lunch instead.

WAIST TRAINING!

I love a good waist trainer.  I am always so intrigued by people who wear corsets and train their waists to get incredibly narrow and somehow they don't smush their vital organs in the process.  I want to make your waist training a little more effortless, so think of this 1930s Hermes belt which may appear to be only for a 21inch waist beauty, but expands like a cuff and isn't necessarily made expressly for each end to touch.  It can be worn with the opening revealed in the front or in the back.  This Deco inspired belt can certainly make anything you wear instantly memorable and a conversation piece.  And if you do have a 21 inch waist then you can have both ends meet and win the prize!  What's the prize, you ask?  The satisfaction of knowing both ends meet, I guess.  Anyway, this is a flexible belt that is nearly 90 years old an essentially sensational!  Mr. Pearl corset not included.

PERFECTIONISTS NEED NOT APPLY

A gorgeous vintage dress can be pretty seductive.  Take this Starvropoulos Grecian goddess gown that was designed by an actual Greek.  For me, it was love at first site:  I was falling pretty hard for the marbleized chiffon print of azure and melon and digging the effortless toga silhouette when I noticed that the previous owner really had a good time in this gown by the remains of the day: stains.  The gowns went straight to Margaret's and just weren't going to go away, so I took the lemons and made lemonade!  Surrendering to its imperfect condition, I suggest that the second owner should be the type who likes to have too much fun and wants to have the proof of it decades from now.  This is the ideal summer gown for those who still "summer" and don't mind a little extra history with their wardrobe.  Trust me, the previous owner, the great opera star Shirley Verrett, probably gave the performance of her lifetime in this gown and celebrated like a rock star after.  Critics and fans called Ms. Verrett  "La Nera Callas."  Not bad to be compared to Callas, but Ms. Verrett had a talent all her own and an enviable style, too.
