EAT YOUR BRUXELLES SPROUTS

There definitely has been a backpack moment brewing the last few years.  The kids are all wearing backpacks - be they vintage Chanel or monogram MCM.  However, if you march to a different drummer, maybe it's time to go Bruxelles chic and invest in Delvaux, a brand older than Hermes and certainly parallel in quality.  Delvaux had a store in LA on Sunset Blvd over twenty years ago that always had my interest but didn't last long on the strip.  People simply didn't know Delvaux's history (it was founded in 1829), but this bag  came from a sophisticated Angeleno who ventured to Delvaux and found this unusual backpack with straps connected to a brass ring and unusual wooden "pole".  One enters the bag via the zippered compartment, but there is also a nice outside pocket on the other side, too.  I like this bag because it doesn't look like anyone else's design.  Isn't that why we love vintage?  To have something that looks original!

IT'S THAT THE NORELL DRESS THAT EVERYONE KNOCKS OFF?

Norman Norell was great at a LBD, but not in a Parisian mode.  A Norell LBD was American chic and continues to be oft-copied.  Case in point: this round neck dress with gathered waist and large hip pockets.  Fully functional and a wee-bit sporty, no? There is nothing anachronistic about this dress.  It's totally relevant today and we see designers doing variations of this wool crepe dress season after season.  I would suggest adding a "sassy" bright belt and shoes for a punch of color.  How would you style this 60s dress to keep it 21st century chic?  And how do you think Norell's iconic LBD compares to that of Givenchy?  Tweet me your thoughts as I love hearing from you! @CameronDecades

WINTER WHITES

Hello Everyone!  Yes I am alive.  I just am on the #longestbooktourever so haven't been chez Decades to blog and amuse you.  I hope you have been following my trials and tribulations on Instagram @CameronDecades?  Nothing is better than coming home and being floored by our latest acquisitions.  Black Swan got nothing on this amazing Vivienne Westwood tulle ballerina gone mad like Natalie Portman!  Or how about this Byblos gathered silk dress with a hat that means business and will protect you from the bee stings.

I love winter white, but if you are a bride with a 'tude these may be the type of wedding dresses that will surely get a reaction from your guests.  Decades is where we go to step outside of the box and get a little attention...a lot of attention!
I've missed you.  Off to Mexico City next.  Adios Amigos

JEREMY SCOTT FOR MOSCHINO

We were very happy to hear that Jeremy Scott is now the new creative director at Moschino. Not only is he a super talented creative genius and a friend, he is one of our favorite rebels of fashion. His whimsy will fit right in with the historic sense of play that Franco Moschino built the house on. Form the archives, when Franco was still designing and poking fun at fashion, comes this LOVE jacket with button trim. We are sure Jeremy Scott will bring his take on Moschino with his new collection showing on February 2014, until then get your hands on some original Moschino.
