YUP IT'S TIME TO CARRY THAT WHITE BAG

It's April and if you haven't added a white bag into your collection, may I suggest this vintage Hermes crossover bag in white with iconic toile "H" slanted logo might be the one to take you from winter into spring in one great luxe swoop?  Let's make this clear: the white of this bag is in need of the Hermes spa in Paris, but wear it this season and send it in the fall so you get a good 5 or 6 months of usage.  I haven't seen this exact shape before, so as a connoisseur and self-professed Hermes addict, I am extra intrigued by this bag.  It's so right now even though it's nearly fifty years old and you will be the only one sporting this chic et sportif bag.  Be one-of-a-kind and toss this across your body.

SILVER ON SILVER

I love anything metallic.  Well not just anything, but the right touch of silver, gold, pewter, bronze...I don't mind it mixed together or as a total statement or maybe just as a highlight.  Take for example this Thierry Mulger ultra sexy LunBD.  The pleated silver metallic is beautifully draped across the dress for a fantastic and fresh silhouette that reminds me of good old Hollywood 1930s glam but is short and sexy as is expected for a siren dress from the 1980s.
So Silver is down with silver!

MINT...IT'S NOT JUST FOR EASTER!

My friend's mother was very close with Karl Lagerfeld during his first stint as the designer at Chloe.  Lagerfeld made many pieces specifically for her.  Forty years later, this chic Berliner continues to wear high fashion but has slowly let me into the depth of her formidable closet and divine vintage collection.

This mint chiffon Chloe evening dress has delicate embroidery, sheer long sleeves, and a luxe hippie vibe.  It may initially appear demure (a big trend on the runways as of late; see Valentino) and flow-y with a double layer skirt, but with a significantly revealing single layer top. It's the type of dress that requires a second tack both as a purchaser and as a viewer of the new owner.  This isn't Granny-chic, but rather a dress that reveals much more than it's first impression requiring a confident body.

Mint...it's not just for Easter!

GOOD GOLLY MS HOLLY

I have memories of visiting the legendary Holly Harp boutique on Sunset Blvd in the late 1970s with my mom.  If you were a fashion lover in the 1970s, Holly Harp was your go-to designer for that boho luxe look of carefree Los Angeles made famous by the likes of Stevie Nicks and Michelle Phillips.  It's a look that really never goes out of style (hello Hedi Slimane).  I am always partial to the jersey pieces featuring hand-painting like the outstanding example below.  However, it gets extra fabulous as this evening dress comes with a hooded cape for the Laurel Canyon/Topanga Canyon rock star in each and everyone of us that may get goose bumps on her shoulders when the sun sets and the incense starts burning.

I am back from my latest Rainbow Tour to promote DECADES: A CENTURY OF FASHION.  I hope to be able to blog a bit more before we resume the tour in 10 days.

ENDLESS LOVE

All the eyes were on MOCA last Saturday celebrating its 35th anniversary. But as soon as the lights went out Diana Ross was at the center of the attention with a surprise performance. She has been an inspiration for Team Decades through the years and it never stops. From her amazing voice to her super glam outfits from Bob Mackie to Tom Ford, we are always inspired. It was emotional to see her in a bright red sequin gown perform "I'm Coming out" to a room full of artists. We continue to celebrate Diana Ross with these iconic looks. The time has come for me
To break out of this shell
I have to shout
